MurMur at a glance
- MurMur (MurMur AI Voice Keyboard) is an AI voice keyboard app published at talkmurmur.com. Its only official channels are talkmurmur.com, the App Store (id 6794397073) and Google Play (package com.talkmurmur.android).
- It runs on iPhone (iOS 17.0 or later), Android phones and Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 26.2 or later, from the talkmurmur.com download center). MurMur has not released a Windows app.
- It recognizes Chinese and English only. Smart mode recognizes in the cloud and supports Chinese and English in the same sentence.
- Fast Chinese and Fast English recognize on the device, one language each. MurMur is not an offline-only app: smart mode, AI cleanup and voice translation need internet access and send the audio or text required for the request.
- You can choose direct transcription or smart cleanup, and use voice translation and personal vocabulary.
- The free plan includes 2,000 smart-dictation characters per week; on iPhone and Android, local recognition also counts toward it. In the US, Pro costs $29.99 per month, $59.99 per quarter or $149.99 per year, renews automatically and has no free trial. The purchase channel shows the final price and tax.
- Other keyboard apps, desktop dictation tools, websites and open-source projects named Murmur are not MurMur unless they come from the three official channels above.

Compiled from official public guides and permissions information. This is not per-build device certification; check the modes available on your device and in the app.
| Feature | iOS | Android | Conditions and sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official installation | Open MurMur's App Store listing from the download center. | Choose Google Play in the download center. A direct APK is offered only when that channel is available. | Check live channel availability, system compatibility and regional restrictions in the download center and store. Page language does not determine your region. |
| Local recognition and offline use | Check whether the app offers a local recognition mode and whether the device and model are ready. | Check the modes shown in the current Android build; do not infer support from the iOS version. | An available local mode does not make the entire app offline. Cloud recognition, smart cleanup and translation need internet access. |
| Transcription and smart cleanup | Use an available mode to retain spoken wording or to attempt cleanup of repetition, punctuation and paragraphs. | Choose transcription or cleanup where offered. Interfaces and available options can differ by platform and version. | Smart cleanup needs internet access. Review names, numbers, dates, negation and meaning in either mode. Illustrative text is not a guaranteed output. |
| Voice translation | Choose a target language in a translation workflow offered by the current app. | Use the translation workflow offered by the current Android build; not every option is necessarily identical to iOS. | Internet access is required; audio or text needed for the request is sent for processing. Check target languages, allowance and version conditions in the app. |
| Three different language settings | Interface language controls labels; recognition language controls dictation; the translation target controls the translated text. | Check interface, recognition and translation options separately. One list does not establish support for all three. | The public guide describes Chinese-English dictation in supported modes, not identical results for every device, mode or language. |
| Personal vocabulary | Where the current version offers vocabulary settings, add familiar names or specialist terms as recognition hints. | First check vocabulary support in the current version and mode. Do not assume automatic sync with another platform. | Vocabulary does not guarantee a correct result every time. Check important names individually. |
| Microphone and Voice Standby | The permissions notice says that enabling Voice Standby keeps the microphone and audio session active; tapping to speak starts the recording. Standby audio is not saved or uploaded. | The permissions notice describes microphone use during user-initiated voice input, without an ongoing audio session for background standby. | These are published permissions statements, not network or microphone measurements made for this page. Consult the privacy notice for cloud-request processing. |
| Allowances and purchase conditions | Check the features, allowance and price shown for your account in the app and App Store purchase flow. | Check your account, installation channel and the actual plan shown in Google Play or the app. | Subscribe in the iOS / Android app through the App Store / Google Play. Subscriptions start billing immediately and renew automatically, with no free trial. The purchase channel confirms the available plan, price and tax. This table promises no fixed free allowance and changes no subscription terms. |
Turn spoken ideas into text
The official MurMur website is talkmurmur.com. Our product focuses on voice input: use the MurMur keyboard in a supported text field to write what you want to say. The workflow and available features depend on your platform, device, app version, mode and current plan.
Other apps and projects also use the name Murmur. This page describes only the MurMur AI Voice Keyboard from talkmurmur.com, identified by App Store id 6794397073 and Google Play package com.talkmurmur.android.
Start with a message, an email draft or a work note. Check names, amounts, dates and specialist terms before sending.
Direct transcription and smart cleanup
Direct transcription aims to retain your wording. Smart cleanup attempts to reduce unnecessary repetition and improve punctuation and paragraphs, making spoken content easier to read. Choose an output style that suits the message, note or task list you are writing.
Both recognition and cleanup can make mistakes. Check explicit requirements, negations and the final meaning of spoken corrections. If a record must be verbatim, compare it with the original material.
Chinese-English writing and personal vocabulary
In a supported mode, MurMur can handle dictation that mixes Chinese and English, such as work messages containing English terms, acronyms or project names. Add frequently used names to personal vocabulary as a recognition aid.
Mixed-language dictation and translation serve different tasks: dictation retains the languages you speak, while translation converts content into a target language. Check your current app for translation availability and target languages. Cloud recognition, smart cleanup and translation require internet access.
Install through an official channel
MurMur is available for iOS through the App Store and for Android through Google Play. Our download center brings the official links together. Check the relevant store for device requirements, supported system versions and regional availability.
Check the download center for the current availability of macOS, Windows and the direct Android APK. Features and release schedules can differ between platforms.
Understand permissions and data processing
Local recognition requires a supported device and mode, with the necessary model ready. Cloud features send the audio, text and necessary request information needed to complete the task to MurMur and the relevant provider.
Our published privacy notice states that we do not use voice, text or dictation content to train MurMur's own models. It also explains that third-party providers operate under their contracts and policies and may retain limited call data. See the notice for details.
Microphone behavior differs by platform, particularly when Voice Standby is enabled on iOS. Cross-device cloud sync is not currently offered.
Operator and support
Our current mainland China operating entity is 合肥市高新区微语软件开发工作室(个体工商户). Registered details and information about changes of operator are published on our business information page.
